The Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles and the Mizoram Custom Prevention Force has recovered 55 bags of areca nuts at Rauntlang in Champhai district.
Assam Rifles personnel and officials of the Custom Prevention Force had conducted a joint operation apprehended at Rauntlang on Monday during which they recovered the areca nuts.

The team also apprehended an individual in connection to it.
The areca nuts are estimated to be worth Rs 7.7 Lakhs in the market.

They were reportedly meant to be smuggled out across the Indo-Myanmar international border in Champhai district.
The Assam Rifles had in the past few months seized several consignments of areca nuts in different places of Mizoram.
