As part of their continued efforts against smuggling in Mizoram, Assam Rifles troops recovered a huge consignment of areca nuts in Champhai district.
The areca nuts were recovered during an operation carried out jointly by the Serchip Battalion of Assam Rifles on Saturday with Customs Preventive Force.

The areca nuts-laden vehicles were seized during the operation on the Champhai-Mualkawi Road in Champhai district.

In another joint operation carried out by Assam Rifles troops of Serchhip Battalion and Excise & Narcotics department, a large quantity of contraband including 987.8 gm of heroin were recovered.
It is estimated that the recovered contraband would cost Rs 4 crore.
The consignment was recovered from Zote Kai area at Champhai in Mizoram.
