Lunglei Battalion of HQ 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) conducted a lecture on National Consumer Rights Day at Zochachhua village.

The lecture, organised on Friday, was attended by a total of 20 youth.

December 24 is celebrated annually in India as National Consumer Rights Day.

The Day is also called National Consumer Day with a specific theme in India.

On this day, the Consumer Protection Bill, 1986 received the assent of the President and became an Act.

“The aim of the lecture was to make consumers aware of their rights and responsibilities,” the HQ IGAR (East) said in a statement.

“The locals of Zochachhua village were very happy and expressed their gratitude for the initiative taken by Assam Rifles,” it said.

In another statement, the HQ IGAR (East) said the Lunglei Battalion of HQ 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) conducted a lecture on Kisan Diwas role of farmers at the community hall on Thursday.

A total of 11 youth attended the lecture.

“The aim of the lecture was to acknowledge and honour the contributions of farmers to the overall growth for the country and its people,” the HQ IGAR (East) said in the statement.

The day also aims at spreading awareness about the importance of the agriculture sector in India’s economy.

The locals of Tuipang village were very happy and expressed their gratitude for the initiative taken by Assam Rifles.
