In yet another success in its crusade against anti-social activities, the Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) recovered a rifle and ammunition and other items.

According to a statement issued by HQ IGAR (East), Assam Rifles troops recovered a .303 Rifle, 1 magazine, 40 live rounds of ammunition from the general area of Lungsir in Mizoramโ€™s Mamit on May 31, 2021.

โ€œThe operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police based on specific information on May 31, 2021,โ€ the HQ IGAR (East) stated.

The operation was conducted on the basis of confirmed intelligence inputs about the war-like stores.

โ€œSwift and bold action of security forces resulted in apprehension of one individual and he was later handed over to the Mamit police station,โ€ the statement said.

Ongoing smuggling of illegal goods is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram.
