An exposition tour for students of rural Mizoram organized by the Assam Rifles left the State for the national capital on Monday.
Assam Rifles, the oldest and most decorated para military force of the country popularly known as ‘The Sentinels of North East’ flagged off the national integration tour to New Delhi comprising 20 students and two teachers selected from far flung areas of Mizoram as part of its ongoing outreach programme to foster the spirit of national integration.
Brig Vinod S, SM, VSM, DIG 23 Sector Assam Rifles flagged off the enthusiastic participants in a grand ceremony held at unit location of Aizawl Battalion recently and expressed hope that the tour will have a lifelong positive influence on the young minds.
The National Integration Tour is aimed to educate and motivate youth of Mizoram and to provide an insight into the rich heritage of the country as well as various developmental and industrial initiatives that are underway through visit to various historical monuments and other important landmarks in Delhi.
During the tour, participants will also get an opportunity to interact with several prominent leaders and personalities such as President of India, Union Minister of State (Home) Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State (Youth Affairs & Sports), Mary Kom, who is also a six time world boxing champion, among others.
