The Assam Rifles conducted a bicycle rally in Aizawl and a cleanliness drive at Champhai in Mizoram.

The HQ IGAR (East) in a press statement said commencing the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ at Aizawl, the Aizawl Battalion of HQ 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) conducted a bicycle rally at Aizawl on Monday.

A total of 10 youths from Aizawl joined the bicycle rally.

“The aim of the rally was to impart knowledge to the youth about physical activity or exercise being important if they want to stay fit and healthy,” the Assam Rifles said in the statement.

Riding a bicycle regularly is one of the best ways to reduce the risk of health problems associated with a sedentary lifestyle.

“The locals of Aizawl were very happy and expressed their gratitude for the initiative taken by Assam Rifles,” HQ IGAR (East) added.

In another press statement, the HQ IGAR (East) said in continuation to ‘Winning Hearts and Minds’ of local populace and extending helping hand towards the locals in the midst of COVID19, the Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles carried out a ‘cleanliness drive” in Champhai on Monday.

The cleanliness drive was carried out with the aim to promote the Swachh Bharat Mission and motivate the local to take the initiative for keeping the surrounding areas neat and clean and to promote health and sanitization in the area, it said.

“The drive received overwhelming response from the locals. Locals along with troops of Assam Rifles participated in this drive,” the statement said.

“The locals expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the initiative and efforts of Assam Rifles for conducting the cleanliness drive. The locals assured to follow the perception of Swachh Bharat Sashakt Bharat,” it added.
