Arunachal set for titanic clash with Odisha in national soccer tourney

Arunachal Pradesh is all set to for the titanic clash with Odisha to claim the title in the Hero Sub-Junior National Football Championship (NFC) being played at Naharlagun in the State.

In the crucial semi-final against Mizoram on Thursday afternoon the hosts fought back after conceding one goal to defeat the visiting north-eastern state team by 2-1 in extra time.

The high voltage match at RG Stadium in Naharlagun on Thursday went to extra-time after both the teams were locked at 1-1 during regulation time.

Mizoram was leading 1-0 against Arunachal at halftime.

The hosts fired from all fronts after the break and to net the equalizer with just six minutes to go for the final whistle.

Captain Yura Tarung netted the equalizer in the 84th minute to force the match into extra-time.

Ujjal Rai scored the stunning winning shot that set the stadium on fire with supporters exalting in joy.

In the first semi-final played earlier in the day, Odisha made it to the final with a 6-2 victory over Jharkhand.

The final will be played on Saturday.
