Mizoram reported a fresh case of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours with a 32-year-old man tested positive for the virus at Zoram Medical College (ZMC), officials said.
A statement issued by state information and public relation department said that the new patient, a resident of Champhai district, has returned to the state from Delhi recently.
He is asymptomatic and has been admitted to Covid-19 care centre in Champhai, it said.
At least 8 Covid-19 patients from south Mizoram’s Siaha district have recovered and were discharged from a Covid-19 care centre on Saturday.
Eight patients, who are currently undertaking treatment in a hospital at Mamit, have also tested negative consecutively for two times and they will be discharged soon, it said.
However, they will be officially declared “recovered” once they discharge from the hospital, the statement said.
Mizoram has a total of 148 Covid-19 cases, of which 93 are active patients while 55 have recovered and were discharged from hospitals.
South Mizoram’s Lunglei district reported the highest case with 45, followed by Aizawl district with 37 and Mamit with 18.
Kolasib district reported 11 cases, Lawngtlai recorded eight cases, Champhai and Siaha registered nine cases each, Saitual, Khawzawl while Serchhip reported three cases each.
As of now Hnahthial, Saitual and Lawngtlai have no active case.
According to health department, a total of 12,753 samples have been tested till Friday, of which 12,480 were tested at ZMC, 215 at Lunglei civil hospital and 58 samples were tested outside the state.
