Aizawl FC fans have lodged a first information report against their former coach Khalid Jamil, alleging him of giving false information at a press conference.

The FIR was lodged at Aizawl police station on Tuesday by the Aizawl FC Central Fan Club. The fans club leaders accused Khalid Jamil of telling lies and defaming the club that made him popular.

“After lifting the I-League trophy last year, our club officials offered Khalid Jamil a fresh contract with better monetary benefits, he failed to respond to the offer and went on saying that the club parted ways with him,” the Aizawl FC Central Fan Club said.

Khalid Jamil, present coach of Kolkatan giant East Bengal, at a press conference at Aizawl on the eve of East Bengal’s match with Aizawl FC said that he was thrown out of his position as Aizawl FC’s coach.

Khalid Jamil’s remark on his departure infuriated the Aizawl FC fans who then decided to lodge an FIR.

“He left the club for his monetary benefits; and went on blabbing lies on the club that made him a star,” the fans said.

Khalid Jamil was recruited by Aizawl FC in the previous season of I-League after they parted with their Spanish coach Ratameri. Jamil was then sacked by Mumbai FC and was without any club. After taking over Aizawl FC he had a dream run and eventually won the league.

Aizawl FC officials said that every effort was made to retain him as their coach but in vain.
