Eighteen more people, including 11 security personnel, have tested positive for COVID19 in Mizoram in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s tally to 2,202.
The news has been confirmed by the state information and public relations department in a statement.

Of the 11 security personnel, 6 are Army personnel stationed at Vairengte on the Mizoram-Assam border, who will be sent to a military hospital in Assam while the rest 5 are personnel of 1 Assam Rifles battalion posted in Lunglei in the southern part of the state, the statement said.
Two employees of Counter-Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS) in Vairengte, 4 state residents and one employee of a private company, who came from Assam were among the newly infected people, it said.
Eight cases were reported from Kolasib district, 5 from Lunglei district, 2 each from Aizawl and Mamit districts and one case was reported from Serchhip district, the statement said.

The two cases detected in Aizawl were believed to be locally transmitted cases, it said.
Of the 18 patients, only an 11-year-old boy and a 29-year-old woman, have developed symptoms of COVID19.
According to the state health department, there are 156 active cases in the state while 2,046 people have already recovered from the virus.
As many as 89,795 samples have been tested till date, it said.
Mizoram has not reported any fatality due to Covid-19 till date.
