Two Myanmar nationals among four held with unaccounted cash.

Aizawl: Four people,  including two Myanmarese nationals, have been apprehended in south Mizoram’s Siaha district for possessing huge amounts of unaccounted Myanmarese and Indian currency notes on Friday, Assam Rifles said in a statement.

Acting on specific information, personnel of Assam Rifles intercepted five mini trucks carrying 16 persons at Zawngling village in Siaha district on Friday, it said.

During a thorough search, Myanmarese Kyat 7,74,74,500 (Equivalent to Rs 30,68,044 in Indian Rupees) and Indian currency notes valued at Rs. 1 lakh were recovered from the vehicles, it said.

Four persons, including two Myanmarese nationals and a female, were apprehended for possessing the unaccounted currency notes, it said.

The currency notes and the four accused were handed over to the state police at Tuipang in Siaha district, the statement added.
