Project Pushpak of Border Roads Organization (BRO) celebrated Hindi Divas from September 1 to 14 in Aizawl, capital of Mizoram.

The Hindi Divas celebration culminated on Friday at Rajat Auditorium in Aizawl which was graced and chaired by the Governor of Mizoram, Kummanam Rajasekharan.

Addressing the audience, the Governor expressed his happiness to see active participation from the children and local people of Mizoram.

He spoke about the initiatives of the Central Government to promote the national language, Hindi both within and outside the country.

He exhorted everyone to take pride in picking up the national language which will ensure better bonding with people of other states and also enhance the education and job opportunities outside the State.

The Governor appreciated the efforts of Project Pushpak for actively promoting such government sponsored initiatives in addition to their primary role of road construction facilitating the connectivity in border and remote areas of Mizoram since last 50 years.

During the fortnight, series of competitions on Hindi essay writing and elocutions were organized at the headquarters of Project Pushpak.

On the culminating day, a Hindi elocution competition was organized involving active participation from the BRO personnel and the local people of Mizoram including young children.

The Governor also gave away the prizes to the winners.

Later, Brig Birender Singh, chief engineer of Project Pushpak, handed over a cheque of Rs 1.5 lakh to the Governor as contribution of the personnel of Project Pushpak for the people of Kerala affected by severe floods recently.
