Mizoram cyclist pedals 17,000 kms for cleanliness, good health

The cyclist pedalled over 17,000 kilometres across 28 states and five union territories in 281 days

Aizawl: Mizoram Sports Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar on Friday felicitated Vanlallawmzuala Varte alias Lza Varte, a cyclist who toured the nook and corner of the country on a cycling expedition. 

The minister honoured Varte with gifts and monetary assistance in recognition of his achievement.

With a mission to spread awareness on cleanliness and good health, the cyclist from Mizoram embarked on his cycling expedition on January 24 this year.

He pedalled over 17,000 kilometres across 28 states and five union territories in 281 days.

He returned to his home state on October 31.

Varte concluded his cycling expedition in Aizawl’s Mission Veng on November 5.
