Miss World Manushi Chhillar will attend the Menstrual Hygiene Day celebration on May 29 here at Manan Kendra in Sikkim. On the occasion, she will be interacting with girl students and women on menstrual hygiene.

Miss World 2017 is scheduled to arrive at Gangtok on May 28. Manushi won the Beauty with a Purpose crown for her project in Female Hygiene and Health and has been presently creating awareness among adolescent girls and women on good menstrual hygiene.

Menstrual Hygiene Day celebration ad hoc committee in a press conference here on Saturday informed that girl students from different schools and colleges and ASHA members from throughout the state were invited for the celebration.

Addressing media here ad hoc committee president Tshering Gyatso, general secretary Krishna Lepcha and publicity secretary Wangchuk Bhutia said Miss World and experts will interact with participants on concerned topics in two hours long programme. They said the celebration has also targeted to create wide awareness on cervical cancer and to support womanhood.

“We have come forward with a noble cause and it is a good opportunity to interact with the current Miss World on this important topic. So we would like to appeal all to take full benefit of such important programme with their presence,” they urged.
