Youth talented mime artiste of Assam, a student of Mainul Haque, Minangka Deka performed at the India International Mime Festival held at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), Kolkata, from March 24 to 30.

His mime solo acts were titled Minangka’s first love, Mandir Darshan, Milk Man, which were staged on the first day in front of the huge crowd.

The festival began with a rally starting from campus of Indian Mime Theatre to EZCC, which was led by famous Indian mime artiste Padma Shree Niranjan Goswami and many other eminent personalities. Minangka’s theme in the rally was ‘Save Nature’. “I want people to discuss mime like they discuss dance or music,” said Minangka Deka.

The seven-day festival witnessed performances of artistes from Mexico, Japan, Bangladesh, Germany, Nepal, Sri Lanka and a few other countries. Artists from Rajasthan, Kerala, Odisha, Manipur, Bihar and West Bengal also exhibited their talents.

Two other young mime artistes from Assam Kuldeep Patgiri and Bijit Kumar Das also performed there.
