Massive win for MDA in Meghalaya by-elections: NPP wins 2 seats, UDP wins one

The ruling coalition in Meghalaya – the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) has secured a comfortable win in the by-elections to three assembly seats in the state. 

While the chief minister Conrad Sangma-led National People’s Party (NPP) won 2 seats, its ally the United Democratic Party (UDP) has won one seat. 

NPP candidates Abdus Saleh and Pyniaid Sing Syiem  secured comfortable wins at Rajabala and Mawryngkneng seats respectively.

UDP candidate Eugeneson Lyngdoh won the Mawphlang constituency.

Meanwhile, the opposition Congress has drawn a blank in the by-elections.
