Meghalaya has counted two more deaths due to COVID19, taking the state’s death toll to 12 on Monday.
In a statement on Monday night, DHS (MI) Dr Aman War said a man, identified as 65-year-old Jagadish Prasad Shah from Riat Laban area was brought dead to Nazareth Hospital at 10.45 PM on August 30.

“The sample was taken and found to be COVID19 positive,” the DHS said.
The DHS also informed that another man, identified as 60-year-old Sunil Kumar Jain of Jhalupara, who was admitted to NEIGRIHMS on August 30 evening, expired at around 7 PM on August 31.
“The deceased was a COVID19 positive with co-morbidities,” he said.

On Monday, Meghalaya recorded the highest number of 113 patients, who recovered from COVID19, while 26 new positive cases were detected.
With the recovery of 113 more patients, the total number of recoveries went up to 1,196.
Health minister AL Hek informed that out of 113 recovered patients, 80 were reported from East Khasi Hills district, 26 from West Garo Hills district, three from East Jaiñtia Hills district, besides two each from Ri-Bhoi district and North Garo Hills district.
“Fourteen civilians from East Khasi Hills district, one Border Security Force (BSF) trooper and four civilians in West Garo Hills district, four civilians in East Jaintia Hills district and one civilian each in West Khasi Hills district and South West Garo Hills district, tested positive for the viral infection,” Hek informed.
Of the 26 new cases detected, 14 were reported from East Khasi Hills district, five cases including four from armed/paramilitary forces and one civilian in West Garo Hills district, four each in East Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills districts besides one each in Ri-Bhoi and South West Garo Hills districts.
Meghalaya has so far registered 2,370 COVID19 positive cases, including 1,196 active cases, 1162 recoveries and 12 deaths.
