Fresh incidents of violence have been reported from couple of places in Meghalaya.

Unknown miscreants attempted to torch a private vehicle bearing registration number AS-01-DV-4869 at Umsning Pata Rim by-pass under Umsning police station.

The incident took place at around 6:45 am early Thursday morning.

The vehicle belonged to one Saddam Hussain.

The wheel cap of one of the front tyres was damaged in the attack.

In another incident, some unknown miscreants pelted stones on a local taxi in the wee hours of Thursday at Nongmynsong.

The vehicle was parked in front of the Catholic church under Nongmynsong police station.

The local taxi bearing registration number ML-05-E-9549 belonged to one Jai Moharram Rai.

Meanwhile, curfew has been further relaxed in Shillong and other parts of the State on Thursday.

Curfew has been relaxed from 6 am to 1 pm on Thursday at Bara Bazaar, Paltan Bazaar, Motphran jeep stand and the whole of the Cantonment area.

Curfew has also been relaxed at entire Police Bazaar area from 9 am to 4 pm on Thursday.

Curfew is also lifted at Sohra from 8 am to 6 am and at Shella from 8 am to 2 pm.

A special bulletin issued by the Police department had stated that the overall situation across the State is by and large normal.

However, law enforcing authorities are keeping close watch.
