The State Bank of India has temporarily shut down its branch at Khanapara in Ri-Bhoi district in Meghalaya bordering Assam after one of its staff tested positive for COVID-19.
Meghalaya health minister A L Hek said on Tuesday that soon after getting the report, the government has ordered for temporary closing down of the bank’s branch and immediately started contact tracing of the people who came into contact with the COVID-19 positive person who is from Assam.

He said that the positive patient is recorded in the list of positive cases in Assam.
“We got this information on Tuesday and the State Chief Secretary M.S.Rao spoke to the Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Rosetta Mary Kurbah and it was established that all necessary protocols have been followed with regard to this case,” Hek said.
The deputy commissioner of Ri-Bhoi has urged all people residing there who came into direct contact with this person, to report to the district administration or District Medical and Health Office of Ri-Bhoi.
