The State Bank of India has temporarily shut down its branch at Khanapara in Ri-Bhoi district in Meghalaya bordering Assam after one of its staff tested positive for COVID-19.

Meghalaya health minister A L Hek said on Tuesday that soon after getting the report, the government has ordered for temporary closing down of the bankโ€™s branch and immediately started contact tracing of the people who came into contact with the COVID-19 positive person who is from Assam.

He said that the positive patient is recorded in the list of positive cases in Assam.

โ€œWe got this information on Tuesday and the State Chief Secretary M.S.Rao spoke to the Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Rosetta Mary Kurbah and it was established that all necessary protocols have been followed with regard to this case,โ€ Hek said.

The deputy commissioner of Ri-Bhoi has urged all people residing there who came into direct contact with this person, to report to the district administration or District Medical and Health Office of Ri-Bhoi.
