Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday said that his government is according utmost importance to the development of transport and urban infrastructure under the “Restart Meghalaya” Mission.
The Meghalaya government has taken up a number of projects ranging from improving air connectivity to smart city projects to develop the infrastructure of the state.

The Meghalaya government had in August last year launched the Restart Meghalaya Mission to revive the ailing economy of the state that had been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Restart Meghalaya Mission ’includes developing the agriculture and its allied sectors, promoting well-being and livelihoods in a rural area, providing one-time grant support up to Rs. 10,000 for any new small business and loans up to Rs. 50,000 for small businesses and entrepreneurs under the Chief Minister’s Support programme.
The mission was based on the Chief Minister’s Task Force’s recommendations on short, medium and long term measures for improving the ailing economy.
The Meghalaya government had earmarked an amount of Rs 14,515 for the mission, of which Rs 7,839 crore was to be utilized during the current financial year.
Moreover, the state government had also allotted a total investment of Rs. 8,753 crores to be spent in developing the state’s infrastructure over the next three years.
An additional amount of Rs. 850 crores had been allotted to develop 13 major roads covering a length of about 350 Km.
