SHILLONG: Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma has said that a country’s or a state’s economy can be driven only “with entrepreneurship and private sector”.

“As a government, we believe that an economy of a nation, state can only be driven with entrepreneurship and private sector,” Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma said.

The Meghalaya chief minister made this statement while speaking at the PRIME MeghaPreneur Expo in Shillong on Friday (February 09).

“The government’s role is primarily to create the ecosystem, to provide the policies, incentives and infrastructure and a system for entrepreneurship to thrive,” he said.

Conrad Sangma added: “We have a clear-cut strategy, we have been stressing on entrepreneurship as the main driver and creator of employment in the state.”

Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma said that the state government has embarked on a mission to promote entrepreneurship in the state.

He said that the Meghalaya government has undertaken an ambitious plan to provide opportunities to 20,000 plus entrepreneurs to avail financial support under CM-Elevate.

The Meghalaya chief minister said, “We want to create a culture of entrepreneurship.”

“We want our youth to take risks and harp on opportunities that are available within the state,” he added.
