The National People’s Party (NPP) on Sunday stated that it is open for any ‘pre-poll alliance’ with ‘like-minded parties’ before the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for next year.

This was stated by NPP chief and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in New Delhi on Sunday, reported agencies.

Conrad, however, reiterated that the NPP will remain an ally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

He was in the national capital to address the party’s central executive meeting that was held at the Constitution Club.

Addressing the party’s central executive meeting, Conrad said that most of the state units and MLAs expressed their desire to strengthen the party and contest the upcoming elections in different states, agencies reports stated.

NPP is an ally of the NDA led by BJP at the Centre. Presently, it is a part of the coalition government led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in some of the states in the Northeast.
