Guwahati: To ensure the safety of school children, the Education Department in Meghalaya has issued a directive to all schools, mandating the display of seating capacity on vehicles ferrying students.
This move is in line with the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety’s guidelines.

As per the order, all school buses and three-wheelers must prominently display their carrying capacity, both inside and outside, to facilitate monitoring and prevention of overloading.

Schools have also been instructed to conduct regular checks to ensure compliance with the specified capacity limits.
