The newly-elected executive committee of North-Eastern Hill University Teachers’ Association (NEHUTA) has taken charge for for the year 2021-22.
The newly elected body of NEHUTA took the charge of office from the previous executive committee recently after the election results were declared by the Election Committee.

The newly-elected body includes Prof. Xavier P. Mao as president, Prof. Donkupar Syiem as vice-president, Dr Marbhador M Khymdeit as general secretary, Dr. Juwesh Binong as joint secretary and Dr Jacqueline J Thabah as treasurer of the Association.
The other members of the executive committee are Prof. Esther Syiem, Prof. UK De, Dr. Jacintha I Rapthap, Dr. P. Biswas, Dr. Ramona Sangma and Dr. Shimti Kharmawphlang.

The newly-elected executive committee, after taking charge pledged to continue its work for advancing NEHU’s motto, ‘rise up and build’, said NEHUTA said in a press statement issued by Prof. Xavier P. Mao, president and Dr. Marbhador M. Khymdeit, general Secretary.
In the midst of difficult situation, the NEHUTA shall pursue with the authorities creation of a free, fair and healthy academic atmosphere in the University so that NEHU can regain laurels, said the statement.
The NEHUTA seeks support and cooperation from all sections of the university as well as from the entire society concerned with the future of higher education in Meghalaya and the Northeast region.
“The NEHUTA shall raise its voice on pressing issues of higher education so that the Northeastern region and NEHU get its due share in the national and global scenario,” the statement said.
NEHUTA said the new executive committee shall continue following up all the pending issues pertaining to interests of the teachers and the University in every possible way.
The newly-elected body shall strive for the academic and intellectual well-being of teachers, students and every related section of the society, it further said.
