A student of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) has written to Meghalaya Governor Satyapal Malik over alleged absence of Vice Chancellor Prof SK Srivastava amid Covid19 pandemic.
Constantine Dohtdong, an MA 4th Semester student of the English department of NEHU through the letter has sought an inquiry into the “whereabouts of the Vice Chancellor of NEHU”.

Dohtdong said it is learnt that Prof S. K. Srivastava “has not been seen in the Campus” since April 18, 2021.

“His disappearance has put many students in a state of dilemma and also many important decisions with regards to the on going examinations and hostel regulations, requires the presence of the Vice Chancellor for any decision making as these are vital for the academic welfare & healthy environment of the University,” he wrote.

“It is very unfortunate that Prof SK Srivastava has abdicated his responsibility of leading the students and the University in this hour of acute suffering, grief and loss,” he added in the letter.

The NEHU student said the Vice Chancellor “has committed a grave act of irresponsibility by leaving the students, researchers and the community without any action plan of support, proving beyond doubt that he only serves his own interests” during the deadly Covid19 situation.
Seeking a probe into the VC’s alleged absence in the University campus, the student wrote: “I am writing to you with a hope that you will kindly conduct and inquiry about his whereabouts for the sake of transparency and good governance in North Eastern Hill University.”
