Shillong: Two more petrol bomb attacks were reported in Shillong, Meghalaya on Thursday.

As per reports, the latest attacks took place early this morning, with petrol bombs lobbed at the heavily guarded Shillong Sadar police station and Rynjah police station.

Five separate incidents involving petrol bombs have targeted police stations, government property, and vehicles in the past few days.

None of the perpetrators behind these attacks have been identified or apprehended.

Before this incident, a petrol bomb attack targeted the Meghalaya Government Construction Corporation (MGCC) office at Kench’s Trace. The petrol bomb narrowly missed parked vehicles, and alert night watchmen quickly extinguished the fire.

While the motive behind these attacks remains unclear, some police sources suspect a possible connection to the recent arrest of some student union members in connection with the killings of three non-tribal labourers.

In response to these escalating attacks, the Meghalaya government has directed all department heads to heighten security measures for both government offices and vehicles.
