Meghalaya: Two IEDs recovered in West Garo Hills

Based on specific information, a counter-insurgency operation was conducted by a joint team of West Garo Hills Police and 120 Bn CRPF at Mengotchigre village under Tikrikilla police station on the intervening night of September 9-10, 2021.

This was informed by the West Garo Hils superintendent of police.

“During the operation, two live Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), weighing 3.25 kg of Class-II explosives and three detonators were recovered,” the West Garo Hils superintendent of police said in a statement.

Accordingly, as per SOP, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) from 2nd MLP Bn. Goeragre disposed both IEDs in-situ, he said.

“In this connection, a case vide Tikrikilla PS Case No. 18(09)2021 under section 5 of the Explosive Substances Act 1908 has been registered and investigation is on,” the West Garo Hills police chief said.

“If any person has any Information about the miscreants involved in this illegal act, they are requested to inform the local police,” he said.

Their identity shall be kept secret and suitable reward shall be given, the district police chief said.
