Meghalaya will lock horns with Arunachal Pradesh in the Sub-Junior National Football Championship final at the Kalyani Stadium in West Bengal.

The team from Meghalaya defeated Bengal on Sunday in the first semi-final match between 3-1.

For Meghalaya, Samlang Rympei scored two goals at the 16th and the 92nd minute and Baniatyllilang Mawkhiew scored at the 64th minute to take the team home.

Arunachal knocked out Kerala 2-0 in the second semifinal.

Meghalaya have produced an excellent display, amassing 22 goals in their five matches.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday congratulated the Meghalaya sub-junior football team for making into the finals.

“So proud of our boys from Meghalaya who made it to the finals of the Sub-Junior National Football Championship after defeating Bengal yesterday. Congratulations and all the best to the team and its coaches!” the CM tweeted.
