Guwahati: Road connectivity in Meghalaya is set to improve with the launch of six projects worth Rs 3,214 crore during the North East India Infrastructure Summit & Exhibition (NEIINFRA) 2026.
The planned works cover the development of four national highways along with improvements to two existing road links, with the objective of making travel easier and supporting economic activity across different parts of the state.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari is expected to take part in the summit, where foundation stones for the projects will be laid.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said the upcoming projects represent a significant infrastructure push for Meghalaya and are expected to contribute to the state’s long-term growth.
He shared the announcement through social media ahead of the event.
The proposed investment package includes the Rs 951 crore Tura Bypass, the Rs 737 crore Dhubri-Phulbari BridgeโSelsella corridor, the Rs 564 crore Pynursla Bypass and the Rs 504 crore Selsella-Goeragre Road.
Improvement works on the Shillong-Dawki route and the Jowai Bypass are also part of the initiative.
Scheduled for June 15 and 16, NEIINFRA 2026 will focus on infrastructure expansion and investment opportunities across the region.
Policymakers, industry representatives, financial institutions, technology companies and investors from different parts of the country are expected to attend.
The gathering will also include chief ministers, senior officials and representatives from Meghalaya, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland to discuss development strategies driven by infrastructure growth.
The summit is being jointly hosted by the Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER), the Meghalaya government and the Build India Foundation.
The event is likely to draw more than 800 participants from across the country.
