Meghalaya: Three injured in Shillong as masked miscreants go on rampage

At least three people in Shillong – the capital of Meghalaya have sustained injuries after masked miscreants went on a rampage. 

The masked miscreants attacked people with sharp weapons near the Lumdiengjri police station in Shillong on Thursday.

One of the injured persons, Chandan Paul (55), a shopkeeper in Shillong, was allegedly stabbed from behind.  

Paul was immediately rushed to the Shillong civil hospital for treatment. 

Two more persons – Norjul Mullah (30) and Abdul Choudhury (38), both residents of Garikhana area in Shillong city also sustained injuries.

Family members of the victims, who are non-tribals, have urged the Meghalaya government to take stringent action against those involved in the attack in Shillong. 

“We are also permanent residents of the state. But we face such attacks repeatedly. The state government must act,” said Ruma Paul, sister of injured Chandan Paul, a resident of Shillong. 

Meanwhile, Shillong police have launched an investigation into the matter. 

However, no person involved in the attack has been apprehended thus far.
