Meghalaya all set to celebrate autumn amid festivities and cherry blossoms

Meghalaya is all set to celebrate its signature autumn festival – the India International Cherry Blossom Festival 2018 next month.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday announced the dates of India International Cherry Blossom Festival 2018 at a press conference in New Delhi.

The festival this year will be held in Shillong from November 14 to 17.

During that time of the year, the landscape of Shillong becomes a virtual reality of a canvas painted in white and purple.

This is the third edition of the festival in the mystic Khasi hills of Meghalaya.

Cherry Blossom festival is being held in Shillong where the celebration of flowering is going to take place during that time of the year.

The Autumn Cherry Blossom Festival is organized by the Meghalaya government is association with the Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development and the Indian Council of Cultural Relations.

It is here that the plantations of thousands of cherry blossom trees can be seen placed well alongside the guards of the bamboo tree.

It is just not a carnival of blossomed flowers but is a celebration of life.

At the venue, one gets to witness not only the flowering festival but also a vast range of activities lined up for its enthusiasts.

The best part is it is free for all and open for all, whether locals or foreign nationals.

The festival is indeed a crowd-puller as several activities and programmes are lined up.

A host of community events take place during the festival such as the guided night walks, live music, beauty pageants and various lip-smacking stalls to tease the taste buds of the foodies.
