State Bank of India’s main branch in Shillong was closed for a day on Saturday after 10 of its staff members tested positive for COVID-19.

A total of 89 staff members were tested for coronavirus, out of which 10 tested positive, said a senior medical official.

“The positive patients have been asked to quarantine themselves,” the official added.

The East Khasi Hills district magistrate Isawanda Laloo, following the detection of the cases, directed the State Bank of India Main Branch, to remain closed on Saturday for complete sanitization.

“While on October 20 and 21, the bank shall open only for other essential banking service and no public transactions shall be allowed,” an order from the DM notified.
