The driver of an escort car of Meghalaya home minister Lahkmen Rymbui’s convoy has been suspended after the car he was driving met with an accident on January 13.
The accident resulted in a man losing his life and another sustaining grievous injuries after the escort car hit a motorcycle head-on in Williamnagar.

A sub-inspector with the Meghalaya police, who was also in the same escort car, has also been suspended.
Both the driver and the policeman have been suspended till the inquiry into the matter is completed, the police said.

“Driver constable Dimsrang Sangma and sub-inspector Kromith Marak have been suspended until further orders by East Garo Hills SP,” Meghalaya home department informed.
A case has also been registered in connection with the accident.
The car which was involved in the accident belonged to East Garo Hills District Executive Force (DEF).
