SHILLONG: An attempted robbery occurred at the State Bank of India (SBI) branch in the ICAR area of Umiam under Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya, on Sunday (May 19) night.

Unidentified miscreants tried to break into the bank by forcibly entering through the back door under the cover of darkness.

According to reports, intruders managed to break the grills of the bank’s back door but failed to access the drawer containing money.

The attempted robbery was discovered on Monday (May 20) morning when SBI Umiam branch staff arrived at work and immediately alerted the Umiam police station in Meghalaya.

Following the report, the crime branch sleuths of the Meghalaya was dispatched to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.
