COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya increased to 1,292 after 64 new positive cases were detected on Saturday even as 15 patients recovered from the viral infections taking the number of persons who have recovered to 596.
With 64 new COVID-19 positive cases, there are 690 active cases in the state at present.
Updating the latest COVID-19 position, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said that out of 64 new cases, 16 civilians, two BSF and one army were positive cases in East Khasi Hills district and 34 cases in West Garo Hills which include 8 BSF personnel and 26 civilians.
In Ri-Bhoi district, nine civilians were tested positive and two in North Garo Hills district.
Dr War said that the 15 patients who have recovered on Saturday include 10 civilians in West Jaiñtia Hills district, three in Ri Bhoi (two civilians, one army) and one BSF personnel in West Garo Hills, and one civilian in South Garo Hills district.
With 690 active cases, East Khasi Hills is the most affected district in the state with 438 cases which include 87 BSF personnel, 279 civilians, army 72, followed by West Garo Hills 135, Ri Bhoi 89, North Garo Hills 8, West Jaiñtia Hills district 6, East Jaiñtia Hills 5, and three cases each in in West Khasi Hills and South West Garo Hills, South Garo Hills 2 and South West Khasi Hills 1.
So far, Meghalaya has a total of 1,292 COVID-19 cases which include 690 active cases. A total of 596 persons have recovered six people succumbed to decease.
