The resolution on ILP was passed by the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly on December 19, 2019.

“The Central government should implement the ILP in our state as it has done in Manipur,” Marngar said.
The KSU president called for the implementation of the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA).
Although the state government had proposed to set up 23 entry/exit points in Garo Hills and 18 entry/exit points in Khasi and Jaintia Hills under MRSSA, they are yet to be constructed.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya chief minister, Conrad K Sangma has assured that the construction of the entry/exit point in Umling in Ri Bhoi district will be ready within 60 days.
“The entry/exit point in Umling has to function now that the Citizenship Amendment Act has come into force, which will felicitate movement of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh,” he added.
Marngar said that the more laws the state has, the state will get protected.
