Meghalaya gears up with preparations to welcome President Ram Nath Kovind for his maiden visit to the state.
The President will attend the XXVI convocation of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in Shillong on November 4.

This will be Ram Nath Kovind’s maiden visit to the hill state after assuming office as the 14th President of the country on July 25, 2017.
The President will attend the NEHU convocation as the chief guest from 10.30 am to 11.30 am.
Meanwhile, normal traffic flow will be affected on Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon and from 3 pm to 5 pm due to mock drill which will be conducted in view of the visiting VVIP to Shillong.

The same exercise will be carried out from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on November 4.
This was informed by the East Khasi Hills superintendent of police (Traffic).
All motorists have been requested to avoid travelling in the main roads of Shillong city during the said period of date and time.
However, all types of emergency services will not be affected by the said exercise.
