“If any person is found to be contravening the statutory provisions of law, stringent action will be taken against them,” the statement further said.

The action from the Meghalaya Police comes after UBLA issued a ‘non-negotiation letter’ on October 19, 2020.

The letter, issued in the names of Bikram De, commander-in-chief and Chandra J, secretary-general of UBLA, said “this is not a dialogue letter but an ultimatum to you and to whomsoever dares to touch the sentiments of the Bangali people”.

“Our Bangla Senas are ready to plot for an unimaginable situation in Meghalaya”, the outfit said.

It added: “Notwithstanding the demand of Gorkhaland by your Chief Minister, to recall his Excellency, there is no Gorkhaland in Bangal but in Nepal. If provoked, in any minute he will be in the list besides.”
