Meghalaya Police on Monday evening carried out two separate counter-insurgency operations in the West Garo Hills district and recovered a grenade, ammunition and two IEDs.
During an operation, the Meghalaya Police in West Garo Hills recovered one live grenade and 6 numbers of live 7.62 mm ammunition.
While confirming the news, the West Garo Hills Police in a tweet on Monday said the counter-insurgency operation was carried out in Du’magitok village, located approximately 15 km from Tura, the headquarters of the West Garo Hills district.
The West Garo Hills Police informed that a case has been registered regarding the seizure.
Police also said an investigation is going on.
However, the police are yet to arrest anyone in connection with the case.
“In a Counter-Insurgency Operation conducted today, West Garo Hills Police recovered one live grenade and 6 nos. live 7.62mm ammunition from Du’magitok village located approx. 15 kms from Tura,” West Garo Hills Police tweeted.

In another counter-operation carried out in Rechangre village under West Garo Hills district, a team of Meghalaya Police was able to recover two IEDs.
Sharing the news on its Twitter handle, West Garo Hills Police on Monday evening tweeted: “In a CI Ops conducted in Rechangre village today, two IEDs were recovered.”
West Garo Hills Police further informed that while one IED was assembled in a pressure cooker, another was assembled in a tin paint box.

Both the IEDs were destroyed later, the police said adding that they have started an investigation after registering a case.
