One policeman expired in Meghalaya while staying in a quarantine centre and the state health department said the cause of the death was not COVID19 infection.
The 54-year-old Meghalaya Police constable, identified as Ajay Baidya from the 1st Battalion, died at the Mahatma Gandhi University quarantine centre in Khanapara.
The police man had to quarantine as he came in contact of a COVID19 positive patient.
The constable complained of stomachache, vomited blood and later fell unconscious.
“The exact cause of the death will be known only after receiving the post-mortem report,” an official in the health department said.
Sources said an antigen test was conducted immediately after the patient died, and the test result came out negative.
