The Meghalaya cabinet has decided to allow only 50 per cent of state government employees to resume duty.
Earlier, the state cabinet had decided to ask all its employees to come back to work in full strength from April 15.

“After reviewing the latest situation, it was decided that not more than 50 per cent of employees should come to work. The chief secretary will issue instructions and the respective head of departments will work out the modalities,” deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong said.
Asked if the government has taken a hasty decision earlier, Tynsong defended, saying it was not a hasty decision, but it was based on the latest prevailing situation.
Last week, many state government employees sought to know from the government, on how they can attend office because the government has not allowed operation of public transport.

Tynsong said the head of departments would now work out the modalities including transportation of 50 per cent employees who will attend office on a shift or rotation basis when the lockdown is still in force till April 30.
All these days during the lockdown, only 30 per cent employees were attending office.
