Assam Manipur: 6 arrested for looting IRB weapons in Imphal Meghalaya: One nabbed with heroin worth Rs 5.5 crore in East Jaintia Hills

Guwahati: The Meghalaya Police apprehended one individual and seized a significant amount of illegal drugs during a routine vehicle inspection from a bus.

The arrest occurred at the Ratachera Infiltration Check Post in East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya.

Based on inputs, the police force stopped a Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) night bus (ML030216) and conducted a search.

The search led to the discovery of suspected heroin and Nitrazepam tablets in the possession of a passenger.

The passenger was identified as Mizazur Rahman Barbhuiya of Silchar, In Cachar, Assam.

Police confiscated the seized narcotics, which included 25 soap cases containing heroin with an estimated street value of Rs 2.1 crore, and 3,720 Nitrazepam tablets.

Additionally, they took one mobile phone from the suspect’s possession.

An FIR has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The accused, Mizazur Rahman Barbhuiya, has also been arrested in connection with the seizure.
