Amid nationwide lockdown, Meghalaya government has imposed night curfew along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
The additional district magistrate, in-charge Pynursla Civil Sub-Division in an order issued under section 144 CrPC said together with Regulation 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 has promulgated night curfew along the Indo-Bangla border in all villages within 5 kms from the international border pillars No.1251 to 1272 from May 8 to 31 from 8 pm to 6 am daily.
However, the curfew will not apply to government officials on duty, authorized VDPs and medical emergencies.
The Additional District Magistrate said that the order was issued so that the pandemic of COVID-19 is contained, reduced and eliminated in areas under Pynursla Civil Sub-Division, by way of ensuring observance of strict protocols of the advisories issued by Meghalaya government through the Health and Family Welfare department.
