Meghalaya Mukul Sangma

SHILLONG: Senior TMC leader from the Northeast state of Meghalaya and former chief minister Mukul Sangma expressed optimism regarding his party’s prospects in the Tura parliamentary seat.

He said that the people of Tura Lok Sabha constituency in Meghalaya desire for change.

Mukul Sangma, after casting his vote in support of TMC candidate from Tura, Zenith M Sangma, conveyed confidence in their victory based on “current indications”.

“The significant voter turnout reflects the fervour with which people are participating, signalling a strong desire for change,” Sangma said.

Acknowledging the anticipated triangular contest in Tura, Sangma highlighted the contest as more about the incumbent rather than merely between political parties.

Addressing the alleged failure of the INDIA bloc in Meghalaya, Mukul Sangma attributed it to a purported conspiracy orchestrated between the Congress, NPP and BJP.

Regarding TMC’s decision not to field a candidate for the Shillong seat, Sangma clarified that it aligned with the bloc’s commitment to presenting single candidates.

Sangma admitted to the failure of the INDIA bloc in the Northeast region, attributing it to the manipulation by the Congress leadership in collusion with the BJP and other opposition forces.
