Shillong: A man who recently was buried alive in a garbage collapse in Marten, Meghalaya was found dead by the rescue teams on Tuesday.
Marshal Marwein, a 30-year-old ragpicker was buried alive under a garbage collapse in Marten on February 3.

The search, involving the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), fellow ragpickers, municipality workers, and volunteers, faced challenges due to low visibility on Monday, forcing a temporary halt to operations.

However, resuming their efforts with renewed determination at dawn today, the team located Marwein’s remains.

Reports stated that Marwein, originally from Mawkyrwat and residing in Mawiong, had arrived at the Marten landfill on February 3 after collecting waste from the city.
While he was sorting through the garbage for recyclable materials, a sudden collapse of the massive dump tragically buried him alive.
He leaves behind his wife and two young children.
