Meghalaya Assam: Police launch probe into minor's sexual assault case

Shillong: In a shocking incident, a middle-aged man allegedly sexually assaulted his two minor daughters on multiple occasions in Meghalaya‘s South Garo Hills district.

The alleged abuse was finally stopped after concerned villagers stepped in and reported the matter to the police.

The accused, who was arrested on Saturday morning, has been sent to judicial custody. According to report, the man is suspected of raping both his 17-year-old and 14-year-old daughters.

Despite the mother’s apparent knowledge of the abuse, no complaint was filed, allowing the horrific acts to continue, locals said.

It was only when the villagers became aware of the situation that they decided to take action. The village president and secretary approached the police station to report the matter.

Following the complaint, the father was immediately taken into custody and a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered.
