The family members of a school teacher-cum- assistant pastor of a local church in Garo Hills heaved a sigh of relief after their kin managed to escape from the clutches of his captors just hours after being kidnapped by a group of unknown miscreants on Wednesday morning.
A report published in ShillongNews stated that the victim, Sundaybirth Ch Marak, who was kidnapped by a group of six unidentified miscreants, was able to break free from captivity and flee to safety.
The report further stated that Marak was kidnapped from his house in Kakhija in South Garo Hills this morning at about 12:30 am by a group of gun-toting criminals before he was able to make his escape this afternoon. “He shook off his captors and made his way to the Sibbari Outpost. He also gave us the location of where he was taken and we have launched an operation based on his inputs,” said district police chief, Abraham T Sangma.
The teacher is currently in Sibbari outpost where he reached after escaping from the clutches of his captors. “We have taken him for a medical after his escape. We believe the kidnapping to be the handiwork of local criminals and are trying to nab them,” added Abraham.
