The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) will constitute a committee which will pursue Bills passed by the council but yet to get the approval of the Meghalaya governor.
The committee will be headed by former Meghalaya deputy chief minister Bindo M. Lanong, who has been nominated as member of the council recently.
According to the KHADC chief executive member, Teiñwell Dkhar, around 39 Bills passed by the council are pending with the District Council Affairs (DCA) department of the state government and the governor since 1999-2000.
Dkhar said that the committee under the chairmanship of Lanong would conduct a follow-up with the government.
The CEM also said that the council wanted to pursue with the state government various important bills including the Land Bill and Clan Bill.
Lanong was also the CEM of the council from 1999 to 2000.
