Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth around Rs 5 lakh has been seized in Meghalaya’s North Garo Hills ahead of New Year.
State Excise officials said the seizure was made from a truck in the Mendipathar area of North Garo Hills district on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, excise sleuths conducted a raid in the area and seized 13 cartons of IMFL, including a few crates of beer, said an official.
A case under relevant sections of the Excise Act has been registered at the Mendipathar police station, he said.
